Fire Marshal Training
Thursday 2 April 2020
9.30am – 12noon
Shaddongate Resource Centre< Shaddongate, Carlisle CA2 5TY

This session has been designed for any members of staff designated as fire warden for their workplace – or looking to become this.
Delegates will learn about causes and effects of fires, as well as how to prevent their spread and implement necessary emergency procedures. The course complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005  and covers:

· Relevant legislation and guidelines
· Preventing fires and the spread of them; Fire hazards and causes of fires
· Emergency protocol, including evacuation, emergency lighting and assembly points
· Fire alarms and fire drills; Risk Assessment
· Understanding categories of fire and how they differ
· Meanings of the colour codes on fire extinguishers
· Regular fire safety inspections and keeping a fire log

Delegates may be expected to engage in a number of group activities. An experienced trainer will guide participants through the session and a certificate will be awarded upon completion.

Fundraising Workshop For Art & Culture Organisations in Cumbria (2 half-day Sessions)
Monday 9 March and Monday 23 March 2020

Cumbria Arts & Culture Network is hosting a fundraising programme comprising two succinct and information packed half day workshop sessions in March, led by Anna Scrine, a Yorkshire based Fundraiser and Trainer. Fundraisers from arts and cultural organisations large and small, will work together with Anna to explore current issues within the fundraising sector and develop new fundraising skills and techniques.

Planning for Success – How to Grow Your Volunteer Programme –

  • Outline the steps to successful volunteer involvement
  • Help you to create meaningful, impactful and attractive volunteer roles
  • Explore how to motivate and inspire volunteers
  • Provide an opportunity to reflect on how you work with volunteers, share experiences and action plan your next steps

Events 2020

County Volunteer Network
Wednesday 11 March 2020
10am – 1pm including networking lunch

This session will help organisations to learn how to attract, recruit and support volunteers from BME groups and Ex-Services personnel. The session will look at barriers (including language) and will provide useful tips on how to encourage and support these individuals to volunteer for your organisation.
This session is FREE for CVS members (£10pp for non members).

NCVO and Cumbria CVS National Assembly Event
Wednesday 22 April 2020
10am – 3pm

Shaddongate Resource centre, Shaddongate, Carlisle CA2 5TY

Join us at this unique event which is being delivered in conjunction with National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO). Come along and take the opportunity to engage with this national infrastructure organisation, provide feedback and help shape their future strategies. It is also an opportunity to feed into a new Cumbria CVS Strategic Plan and network with both organsiations and access advice and support.
This promises to be an interesting and exciting event. Further details will follow very shortly but for now – please pop the date in your diaries!


Funding Events 2020
These events provide an excellent opportunity for local organisations to meet local, regional and national funders to discuss funding opportunities for potential new projects and/or existing projects. In 2019, these events provided over 200 local groups with advice, support and information, and feedback was very good:

“Good to talk face to face to funders and build relationships”.
