Cumbria CVS offers help, advice, training and support to the voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise sector (VCFSE) throughout Cumbria, offering support to over 2,500+ organisations. As part of the Furness for You project and the This Is Us Project, Cumbria CVS is currently recruiting:

Volunteering Development Officers (Westmorland and Furness)

Salary: £29,190 (FTE) pro rata (both roles)

10 hours/week. Fixed term until end December 2024 (This Is Us project)

18.5 hours/week. Fixed term until end March 2025 (Furness for You project)

Flexible working, in terms of both location and hours of work. 

There will be occasions when office working will be required at our office base in Barrow.

These roles offer a fantastic opportunity for an individual to support the development and delivery of volunteering across Westmorland and Furness through the delivery of two projects:

  • Furness for You: a project that operates across Barrow, aiming to reduce chronic loneliness and improve wellbeing through a range of activities, including volunteering and other place-based interventions.
  • This Is Us: delivers place-based support to organisations and volunteers to enhance volunteering opportunities, while supporting those organisations through training and 1:1 sessions in recruiting volunteers, capacity building, governance and sustainability.

Candidates can only apply for one role due to funding restrictions (please confirm the role in your application).

What we are looking for

We are looking for a motivated, skilled and experienced individual, keen to support improvements in their local communities. People with knowledge and/or experience of working within the local voluntary and community sector, with communities and knowledge/understanding of volunteering but more importantly an individual with a passion for supporting others to make a difference.

All individuals need to have good organisational skills, good people skills and be able to communicate effectively both written and spoken, support and maintain good relationships and partnerships with a wide range of people and stakeholders and produce effective reports.
