A Busy Time

I can hardly believe it is June already. The year is rushing by and here at Cumbria CVS we are as busy as ever – as I am sure you are too – managing new challenges, alongside current projects; making the most of all opportunities coming our way.
This is also a busy time of year for important events for local organsiations – and I would just like to highlight a few:
Volunteers’ Week:  provides an opportunity for people to engage with charities across the county and think about how they might contribute and likewise it provides local organisations with an excellent opportunity to thank and recognise their  volunteers.  The week also recognises and promotes the great work that is done by so many people who give their time and talents to support others.
Cumbria CVS has run a number of recruitment events across the county throughout this week, all of which have been very well attended, to help local organisations promote themselves and recruit volunteers.  Judith Smale has included a report in this Bulletin – highlighting some of the Week’s activities.

NCVO have viewed the  2017 election as an opportunity to look at how they can support and encourage the people and charities who want to help in their communities. As a result they have released their charities and volunteering manifesto for 2017.  To make yourself familiar with their proposals you can use the link below or use their main website.  https://www.ncvo.org.uk/images/documents/policy_and_research/ncvo-manifesto-2017-short.pdf

West Funding Event: As we continue to deliver our programme of funding events across the county, we are looking forward to our next event, which will take place on Thursday 6 July 2017 at St Michael’s Church, Workington. These funding events provide a not to be missed opportunity for local groups to meet with funders, discuss potential/current projects, possible funding opportunities, access information, advice and support and network with a range of other organisations.  These events area as popular as ever, so please remember to book early. Full details are avilable on our website.

Shaddongate: We successfully moved into our new office at Shaddongate, Carlisle at the end of May and are starting to feel more at home. We are currently playing host to tenants and local groups are starting to use the rooms. We look forward to throwing the doors open to everyone on Tuesday 18 July 2017, when Mrs Claire Hensman, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant of Cumbria will officially open this newly reinstated Resource Centre.
The aim of the event is to showcase the facilities at the building; highlight services available through Cumbria CVS and other local projects; and also to let people know that we are open for business.
Invitations will be sent out very soon, but in the meantime please put the date in your diary.
I look forward to seeing you there.
