HOURS: 18.5 hours per week

RESPONSIBLE TO: Operations Manager
PURPOSE OF JOB: To be responsible for the development and coordination of Carer Support West Cumbria’ volunteer project from attracting and recruiting volunteers through induction, training and support to project development ensuring effective use of volunteers.

DUTIES:
 To manage the Volunteer project
 To be responsible for encouraging the recruitment of volunteers from as wide a spectrum of the community as possible
 To be responsible for identifying and developing new volunteering opportunities within the organisation
 To organise recruitment drives, promotions, open days, networking with referring organisations and other means as may be appropriate
 To manage the risk assessment process for volunteer placements
 To manage and provide ongoing supervision for volunteers in their variety of roles
 Work creatively and imaginatively to realise the objectives of Carer Support West Cumbria in a way that engages a wide variety of individuals
 To ensure that selected volunteers are provided with induction and training necessary to enable them to provide high quality services to carers using the project
 To organise volunteer events and identify methods of acknowledging outstanding contributions and long-term service of volunteers, sharing learning, resources and good practice with partner organisations
 To create outcome focused monitoring systems, collecting and collating data on service users and using such data to provide funders with timely and accurate reports on the services and projects
 Develop volunteering opportunities and monitoring systems to meet the requirements of individual funders in line with project funding
 Developing a network of relevant external partners/stakeholders with an interest in the project and keep them informed of progress
 Work in partnership with health and other professionals where appropriate to enhance project delivery
 To research and identify new developments and best practice in volunteer coordination and implement methods for involving volunteers in the planning of the organisation
 Work with the Operations Manager to monitor, review and update Carer Support West Cumbria volunteer policies and procedures in line with changes in legislation and best practice
 To investigate possibilities with a view to obtaining a suitable Volunteering Quality Standard
 To comply with all of Carer Support West Cumbria Policies and Procedures
 To manage budgets appropriate to the post
 Undertake any other duties as may be required commensurate with the position
