Cumbria CVS is hosting and organising a Volunteering Works Session, aiming  to encourage anyone currently not working to get involved in volunteering as a pathway into employment.

This session aims to attract anyone interested in finding out more about becoming a volunteer and local volunteering opportunities in Carlisle, but also to consider the third sector job opportunities.

This Volunteering Works – Volunteering Information Session in Carlisle  will take place on Tuesday 1 October from 10.30am-2.30pm at Harraby Community Centre, Harraby Community Campus Edgehill Road, Carleton. CA1 3SN. We ask individuals to arrive from 10.15am for registration and coffee.

This face to face event will bring together a range of organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers from Carlisle , but who may also have job opportunities too.

By attending the event volunteers will find out more about informal and formal volunteering, the third sector, local organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers,  the wide range of local volunteering opportunities available, when and where volunteers are needed and how to become a volunteer. We will also look at building confidence and self-esteem through positive hope, how to access training opportunities and further support, volunteering and state benefits along with the benefits of volunteering both to you and our local community.

Organisations attending the event to highlight their volunteering opportunities include:

  • Cumbria Family Support
  • Safety Net
  • Cumbria Law Centre
  • Cumbria Youth Alliance
  • Cumbria CVS

Lunch and refreshments provided.
