Meals on Wheels Volunteer Taster Day

Date:

Time:

Meals on Wheels support older and vulnerable people by preparing, cooking and delivering hot meals to older people in the community in Carlisle , Wigton, Brampton, Longtown and Penrith. These hot meals are essential for older people to remain independent in the community and are often the only human contact they have regularly though Meals on Wheels Volunteers. Volunteers are needed in general to help with driving, delivering meals, kitchen support and vegetable preparation any day Monday to Friday.

As part of the Volunteer Taster Day on 28 January volunteers will have the opportunity to meet the Meals on Wheels Team and find out more about their work, their different volunteering opportunities and actually try out some Volunteering.

From 9.30am-12noon Kitchen Support and Vegetable Preparation Volunteers are needed and those interested in Volunteer Driving and as helpers can do a Meals on Wheels Delivery runs with an existing volunteer from 11am-1pm to actually see how Meals on Wheels works in action.

Volunteers are encouraged to attend for the full session to gain full understanding of Meals on Wheels and to see or try out the Volunteering Tasks though if volunteers are only interested in kitchen or food preparation or driving/delivering meals then volunteers are welcome just to attend on these dedicated time slots.
