Lunch and Learn about Volunteering in Allerdale

Community organisations in Allerdale are invited to the Oval Centre in Salterbeck, Workington to promote their volunteering opportunities to the public.

The event aims to attract anyone interested in finding out more about volunteering in Allerdale. It is also a place for charities, community groups and social enterprises to recruit volunteers. This event is open to the general public to come along and find out what is going on in their community.

Lunch will be provided after a round of speeches from stallholders on the volunteering opportunities in their organisation. Networking will then follow where members of the public can speak to walk around the stalls and speak to community groups they are interested in volunteering with.

This Lunch and Learn about Volunteering in Allerdale will take place on Friday 13th September from 11.30am-1.30pm at The Oval Centre, Salterbeck Drive, Workington, CA14 5HA. We ask organisations to arrive at 11.30am for set up

This face-to-face event will bring together a range of organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers from the West Cumbria area but in particular Allerdale.

By attending the event volunteers will find out more about local organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers,  the wide range of local volunteering opportunities available, when and where volunteers are needed and how to become a volunteer.

We kindly ask that each organisation that attends brings displays, posters, leaflets, information, and application forms to hand out to potential volunteers. We ask organisations to attend for the full event and to talk to any potential new volunteers about:

What your organisations in the community

Which volunteering opportunities are available

The time commitment needed to volunteer for your charity

Training and support available

How volunteers can register to become a volunteer.

Closing date for bookings for organisations is 10 August 2024 to allow time for publicity and promotion. Places will be confirmed after the closing date.
