Anyone who is interested in giving their time to good causes in their community is invited to The Oval Centre in Salterbeck, Workington on Friday September 13th to find out about volunteering opportunities in Allerdale.

The event aims to attract anyone interested in finding out more about volunteering in Allerdale. It is also a place for charities, community groups and social enterprises to recruit volunteers. This event is open to the general public to come along and find out what is going on in their community.

Lunch will be provided after a round of speeches from stallholders on the volunteering opportunities in their organisation. Networking will then follow where members of the public can speak to walk around the stalls and speak to community groups they are interested in volunteering with.

This Lunch and Learn about Volunteering in Allerdale will take place on Friday 13th September from 11.30am-1.30pm at the Oval Centre in Salterbeck. We ask organisations to arrive at 11.30am for set up

This face to face event will bring together a range of organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers from the West Cumbria area but in particular Allerdale.

By attending the event volunteers will find out more about local organisations that are looking to recruit new volunteers,  the wide range of local volunteering opportunities available, when and where volunteers are needed and how to become a volunteer.

Organisations attending include:

  • Healthwatch Cumberland and People First
  • Cumberland Council – Community Transport
  • Citizens Advice Allerdale
  • Soilders’, Sailors’ & Airmens’ Families Association (SSAFA)
  • Men’s Coffee Group Workington
  • Workington Nature Partnership
  • Carer Support West Cumbria

Members of the public can attend without booking on Eventbrite if they wish. There is no obligation to stay for the entire event. Members of the public can join us for the sections of the event that they are interested in.
