Allerdale Development Officer
Support is available to grassroots community organisations, charities, groups and clubs in Allerdale thanks to an investment of community development funding.
Allerdale was recently involved in a process led by Nuclear Waste Services to find an appropriate site for a Geological Disposal Facility (GDF).
Although they are no longer being considered for the GDF, communities in Allerdale have received an investment of more than £50,000 in development funding. The funding is designed to leave clubs, community groups and charities in the area in a better place than they were before the process began.
A post was created here at Cumbria CVS with the funding, and community groups, CICs and charities in Allerdale are now receiving support with their development.
Allerdale Development Officer Gareth Cavanagh can offer groups support to find funding opportunities to finance new equipment or projects they hope to run; help them bring in more volunteers and service users or up their game and meet their training needs.
This support is available to non-profit organisations in: Dearham and Broughton, Maryport North, Maryport South, Flimby, Seaton, Harrington, Moorclose and Mossbay, St Johns and Great Clifton and St Michaels.
Drop-in events are also in the works so that facilitators of community groups and clubs can receive on-the-spot support.
Allerdale Development Officer Gareth Cavanagh said: “This is a really exciting opportunity to make a difference to our community by supporting charities and groups who are doing vital work.
“Are you involved in a charity or Community Interest Company? Do you aspire to set one up? Please do get in touch and draw on my support.
“I can help by connecting you to funding opportunities, supporting you with bid writing, encouraging volunteers to get involved at your charity and providing training.”
