The hall serves as a central hub for community life, offering a versatile space for a wide range of activities and events, including live music performances, guided walks, and community gatherings. Additionally, the hall houses the Threlkeld Community Coffee Shop, providing a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike – serving up some of the finest local food, coffee and cakes in Cumbria.

Cumbria CVS Operations Manager, Bridget Johns, welcomed the news, saying “It was great to hear that Threlkeld Village Hall has become our 500th member, and wonderful to meet Christine and Steve to hear about all the fantastic events held there and the wonderful Community Coffee Shop. Our Members are hugely important to us, and we hope we can help them to continue and develop with our support.”

Village Hall Committee member, Christine, explains how the Hall is managed, and why they joined Cumbria CVS: “Located in the centre of the village beneath Blencathra, ours is a Village Hall with a difference as it incorporates a Coffee Shop. The Coffee Shop is a Community Interest Company run on a commercial basis with professional paid staff. Its managed by a Board of Directors but is wholly owned by the Village Hall CIO and all its profits are invested back into the Village Hall and the wider community. This provides the Village Hall with additional financial support whilst also enabling us to make a bigger contribution to our local community.

The Hall is a busy hub in the village with a range of classes running through the week, as well as music events and talks. It is hired out at weekends for weddings, parties and as a camping barn.

We are proud to have become the 500th local CVS member, we were prompted to join to take advantage of the sound guidance they give and the opportunity to advertise any vacancies we may have.”
