Inclusive Volunteering – Involving Disabled Volunteers

A practical and inspiring day to learn more about involving disabled volunteers in your programmes.

Join us for an amazing day of Training at Bendrigg, an inclusive outdoor centre just outside Kendal.

Tuesday 3rd December 2024, 10.00am – 3.30pm.

Bendrigg Trust, Bendrigg Lodge, Old Hutton, Kendal, LA8 ONR

Aims of course:

· To give participants a safe and supportive environment in which to explore inclusive language and terminology, gain knowledge of the nature and impact of disability and learn about barriers to participation and how these can be overcome.

Outcomes. By the end of the day participants will have:

· Gained understanding of the nature and impact of disabilities

· Explored inclusive language and terminology

· Learnt about the barriers to volunteering for disabled people

· Identified tools and strategies to help make their programmes more accessible and inclusive to disabled volunteers and participants

· Spent time with Beyond Bendrigg staff, learnt about the Bendrigg approach and shared good practice.

Available for a maximum of 2 places per organisation.

Please arrive at 9.45am for coffee and registration, training starts 10am.

This event is part of our This Is Us project, made possible by Westmorland and Furness Council through funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Priority for bookings will be given to organisations in Westmorland and Furness which are Cumbria CVS Members.

We expect this training to have a high number of sign-ups so please do let us know well in advance if you will no longer be able to attend or if a delegate name needs to change. Please note that if places are cancelled within one week or no attendance on the day then organisations will be charged £50.
