Salary: £27,558.39

Holiday Entitlement: 20 days (FTE) plus bank holidays, bonus days at Christmas and length of service increments (1 additional day per year up to 5 years)

Location: Carlisle, Head Office

The Person

An opportunity has arisen for a Payroll Team Leader to join our charitable organisation at an exciting time of growth and development.

We are seeking a candidate who has a good working knowledge of Payroll.

The successful candidate will manage the day to day running of the payroll team. They will work closely with the Payroll & Accounts Manager to ensure the smooth running of the payroll service.

 

Qualifications

  • Good all round level of education
  • 2 years Payroll experience essential

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Excellent working knowledge of Payroll systems ideally Sage
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others
  • Previous experience in leading a team would be desirable
  • IT literate including extensive Excel functionality
  • A high standard of written and verbal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise effectively
  • Enthusiasm and energy – a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Positive attitude to a fast paced working environment where tasks and systems need to be updated and developed
  • Creative, flexible and enthusiastic approach
  • Commitment to valuing diversity and equal opportunities
  • Commitment to providing a high-quality service centered on the needs of individuals who are vulnerable and disadvantaged
  • Experience of the charitable sector is desirable but not essential

Duties will include:

  • Managing and processing
    • Payroll and pensions for customers in receipt of a Direct Payment or Personal Health Budget
    • Supervising, and motivating team members on a daily basis.
    • BACS payments
  • Training and Supporting team members
  • Staff One to ones and appraisals
  • Take on responsibility to act on behalf of Manager when required
