This Bulletin is sent out to all current members of our two Networks: Action for Health and the Mental Health Provider Forum. News – we will be using this as an opportunity to pick out particularly important/interesting articles from our most recent Bulletin and/or highlighting information that might be time sensitive.

Events – we will be using this as an opportunity to highlight events of interest to organisations interested in health and care issues including Network events. Most of these will be local Cumbria events but some maybe regional.

Opportunities – we will be using this to highlight health and care focused funding and project opportunities, representative roles and working groups you might want to get involved in and much more. These will focus on Cumbria but may also include regional opportunities.

SOUTHLAKELAND area – New Cancer and bereavement Peer Support group 

A new group which starts on the 9th April at our CancerCare Lakeside centre.

The Peer Support group is for anyone who has been affected by cancer (including family and friends) and people who are bereaved.

There will be cake and tea and coffee and an opportunity to meet new people in an informal but supportive setting.

WEST CUMBRIA area – Grief Café at Oval Centre Salterbeck, Workington 

Together We hosts a Grief Café at The Oval Centre, Salterbeck Drive, Salterbeck, CA14 5HA on the 2nd Monday of each month from 4-6pm.

Volunteers provide a safe space for people to come together to chat and help individuals through the difficult times.  Everyone is welcome to come and go as they please.

 

COUNTYWIDE – Getting to work on Modern Slavery in Cumbria a Network Event 16.05.2024 Carlisle 

Keynote presentations by The Clewer Initiative, on County Lines and the Care Sector

Thursday 16th May, 2024 09:30-15:30

Carlisle United Football Ground, Foxy’s Room, 250 Warwick Rd, Carlisle CA1 1LL

A chance to find out more about the issue of exploitation in the Care Sector at the moment. It’s a complex issue with no tidy, ready-packaged solutions, the multi-agency responses are being pulled together across the country/county. This event is a chance to hear more.

 

BARROW area – Furness For You – Lunch and Learn events

Tuesday 23 April, Barrow Holiday Inn Express 11.30am to 1pm

This session aims to attract those that are feeling lonely, chronically isolated or anyone interested in finding out more about the Furness For You project and how it could help support you or someone you know.

It is open to the general public to come along, have some lunch and find out more about what’s on offer across the Barrow and Furness area and is funded by the Know Your Neighbourhood Fund.

That’s why we in Boost, as part of our ongoing commitment to innovation, are embarking on a piece of work in partnership with Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria (HI NENC).

We need your help – if you would like to be part of the group that helps shape and support this work over the coming months, please contact us.

Health inequalities are avoidable and unfair differences in health – these can be differences in access, experience, and outcomes. Across the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System we care about all of our patients, and we want to deliver better health and wellbeing for all. Following the success of the first ‘tackling health inequalities’ programme last year, we are delighted to share this excellent opportunity on behalf of the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board, who are funding a further 16 places in 2024 for the wider workforce. NORTH CUMBRIA NHS area – Healthwatch Cumberland want Help to choose the focus of their women’s health project for Summer 2024

Healthwatch Cumberland are going to undertake a women’s health project as part of their program of core work.

Women’s health is very broad and they want you to help them decide which topic this project should focus on. Healthwatch have created a list of the main topics people have recently been discussing with them and they’d like you to pick the 3 which are the most important to you.

EDEN area – Health and Wellbeing Network Forum 

A monthly forum for health and wellbeing groups/services in Eden and (anyone with an interest) takes place online.
