Salary Details: £13.45 per hour

We are seeking a keen cook to prepare, cook, serve and clean down a simple vegetarian soup, stew or salad lunch for our people four days per week, Mon – Thurs (16 hours) at our Kendal site, near Sizergh.

This can be 15 – 25 meals each day, depending on attendance. The cook is responsible for menu planning, using surplus produce grown here and ordering additional food items. You will also be required to carry out regular cleaning to maintain 5-star food hygiene rating of the catering unit.

Responsibilities

The role of the Cook is to:

  • Lead the delivery of a hot, healthy, seasonal meal for all attendees to site each day and the creation and the production of freezer meals for future use, using surplus product from our field.
  • Managing a monthly budget for the kitchen and liaising with key suppliers, including the trading of donations with local food banks and other charities.
  • Ensure that at all times our kitchen is safe, productive, excellently maintained and efficiently run.
  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create a culture of respect, inclusion and security.
