Are you organised, people-focused and ready to be at the heart of a thriving community space this summer? Northern Fells Group is looking for a Coffee Shop Co-ordinator to lead our much-loved coffee shop at the Mosedale Quaker Meeting House for the 2026 season — a welcoming hub for local residents, walkers and visitors that plays a vital role in reducing isolation and strengthening community connections.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to run a busy, volunteer-led coffee shop in a stunning rural setting.

You’ll start in early June, preparing for the season by recruiting and organising volunteers, setting up systems, and getting everything ready to open. From mid-July to mid-September, the role becomes full-time, focusing on the smooth day-to-day running of the coffee shop.

At its heart, this role is about people. You’ll support a team of volunteers, create a warm and inclusive environment, and ensure every visitor has a positive experience.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading the day-to-day running of the coffee shop
  • Recruiting, organising and supporting a team of volunteers
  • Creating a friendly, welcoming and well-run environment
  • Managing rotas, stock and ordering
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service
  • Overseeing food hygiene, health & safety, and allergen awareness
  • Handling cash and maintaining simple records
  • Acting as the main link between the coffee shop and the Northern Fells team
  • Providing end-of-season feedback to improve future delivery

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, approachable and confident working with people
  • Organised and able to manage a busy environment
  • Calm under pressure and solution-focused
  • Comfortable supporting and coordinating volunteers
  • Flexible and able to work weekends during the summer

You don’t need to have managed a coffee shop before, but experience in hospitality, retail, or community work would be beneficial.

Why this role matters

This isn’t just a coffee shop. For many people, it’s a place to connect, feel welcome, and be part of something. By leading the coffee shop and supporting its volunteers, you’ll play a direct role in strengthening community life across the Northern Fells.
