This is the second session of our Governance Learning programme. It is open to trustees of charitable organisations in Cumbria.

In partnership with Bedrock Basics, we are delivering a series of workshops to help non-profit organisations build practical skills, strengthen their impact, and grow with confidence.
Safeguarding Basics

This workshop is designed to raise awareness of the key issues relating to safeguarding for volunteers and staff working with children and vulnerable adults. By the end of this interactive workshop participants should be able to:
- Explain what safeguarding means.
- Identify 7 different types of abuse and their signs.
- Describe how to respond if you suspect abuse.
We aim to make participants feel confident that they would know how to act if they suspect abuse. Please note that this is a basic, non-accredited workshop delivered in collaboration with Adult Learning Westmorland and Furness council. Using Data to Increase Your Fundraising Success

Please note: These sessions will take place on Thursday 4th December AND Thursday 11th December 2025 10am – 12.00pm. NB People need to take part in both sessions to benefit fully from it. There will be course materials sent to read and reflect on between the two sessions.
WHAT – Using Data to Increase Fundraising Success Course will help you to incorporate freely available data into your funding applications to help you evidence and demonstrate the need for your work to funders. It will also help you to use data to describe the changes that your work makes to your target beneficiaries through monitoring and evaluation reports.
