Volunteers’ Week 2023

This week it’s National Volunteers’ Week and a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of volunteering in Cumbria, say thank you to volunteers, and to recruit new ones.

Volunteers Week takes place 1-7 June every year. It’s a chance to recognise the contribution volunteers make to our communities and, using the theme for this year, to celebrate and inspire! This also builds on from the King’s Coronation Weekend and the Big Help Out Campaign to encourage more people to volunteer.

Volunteers are always active, so taking the time during Volunteers’ Week to celebrate and recognise their efforts and all they contribute to our local communities, the voluntary sector and society as a whole has never been more important. A lot of our own staff volunteer in their spare time so we are sharing their inspiring volunteer stories on our social media channels during the week – please follow our social media channels to watch their videos.

We are hosting two Volunteering Fairs during Volunteers’ Week:

Monday 5 June 2023, 12noon-1.30pm at Kendal Town Hall

Tuesday 6 June 2023, 4-5.45pm at Carlisle Youth Zone

We hope to encourage lots of new people to come along to these events and to meet a wide range of organisations looking to recruit new volunteers. Over 40 organisations will be attending! Please do help to spread the word and share on social media.

The Volunteers’ Week website has a variety of resources for organisations to celebrate Volunteers’ Week including communication and logo packs, social media content, posters and thank you certificates for volunteers. So don’t forget to check their website if you are looking for ideas and resources.

Here at Cumbria CVS, we would like to say Thank You to our very own volunteers Susan, Sheila, Colin, Neil, Rebecca, Sarah and Paul, our trustees and to all volunteers and trustees in Cumbria. Thank You for being amazing, and making Cumbria a vibrant and active volunteering community!
