Surveys, Research, Feedback and Reports
Charity leaders say sector is ‘unhealthy’, as demand continues to rise
Two-thirds of charity leaders believe that the charity sector is “unhealthy”, as demand for services continues to rise, according to a new report.
This week, the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) published the UK Charity Insights report, one of 16 country-specific reports that form part of its World Giving Report series.
The report, which is based on responses from 549 charities collected between 6 May and 9 June, finds that 30% of charity leaders think that the sector is in good health.
Voluntary sector involvement in public service delivery declining, research finds
Fewer voluntary organisations are interested in delivering public service contracts than in previous years, according to research published this week.
The latest Third Sector Trends report, which received 8,680 responses from voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations, found that while political enthusiasm to involve the voluntary organisations in the delivery of public services was strong, VCSEs’ interest has continued to decline.
A lower proportion of VCSEs of all sizes said they were bidding for or delivering public services in 2025 compared to 2022 and 2019.
Understanding the VCSE sector’s finances and funding landscape
The latest VCSE Barometer Survey (closing 5th November) explores the realities of funding across the voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
Share your views on:
- How is your organisation’s financial position changing?
- Where are you finding (or losing) funding?
- Are grants and contracts covering your true costs?
Your responses will help build a clearer picture of the sector’s financial health — from reliance on reserves and full-cost recovery to changing fundraising strategies — and shape future policy and support.
