This is Us is was funded by Westmorland Furness Council and Central Government. The project ended in February 2026.

It delivered place-based support to organisations and volunteers to enhance volunteering opportunities in Westmorland and Furness, while supporting those organisations through training and 1:1 sessions in capacity building, governance and sustainability.

This is Us is was based across the Westmorland and Furness area, with staff based in the former Barrow in Furness, South Lakeland and Eden districts.

Staff offered:

• Business planning and sustainability support
• Governance and trustee training
• Fundraising support and funding searches
• Volunteer development workshops
• Volunteer opportunity days
• Sessions with organisations to develop new volunteering roles
• 1:1 sessions working on organisational needs

We also delivered:

• Online and face to face training
• Workshops and networking opportunities
• Sessions for organisations and individuals
