New Third Sector Representatives appointed in North Cumbria

Cumbria CVS is delighted to announce that we have successfully recruited to all of our 16 North Cumbria Integrated Care Community (ICC) Third Sector Representative roles. The Representatives commenced their roles from April and will be in post until the end of May 2025.

In North Cumbria ICCs are led by a Collaborative Leadership Team drawn from Public Health, NCIC, CNTW, Third Sector, Primary Care Network and Adult Social Care. The ICCs focus on developing an integrated team and approach to delivering community-based health and care services. They are also encouraged to effectively connect with local communities to deliver services appropriate to those in their local area most impacted by health inequalities.

We have a fantastic range of organisations represented including Carlisle Youth Zone, Fit4Life, Chrysalis Cumbria, Age UK Carlisle & Eden, Carers Support West Cumbria, Brampton Community Trust and more. All representatives sit at CEO, Director or Manager levels within their organisations and bring a huge range of skills and knowledge. At a time when the ICCs in North Cumbria are undergoing a significant refresh and refocus it is great to know the third sector will be represented by such a fantastic Team.

We have secured an Honorarium of £500 to be paid to each of the organisations for whom the representatives work. This Honorarium has been contributed by North Cumbria ICB and funding has been received for 2023/24 and 2024/25.

Our Third Sector Representatives will sit within each of the 8 ICC Collaborative Leadership Groups. These groups contribute to an individual ICC’s development, service planning and priority setting.

As a third sector representative staff/volunteers will see first-hand how local ICCs are developing and be a part of driving this new and exciting work. They will need a clear understanding of what our sector can bring locally and have the confidence to lead on putting the third sector at the heart of local ICC and its community. Representatives may also have a responsibility (with support from CVS staff) to drive some of the work the ICC does with their local community and those most impacted by health inequalities.

In short they will be:

  • Powerful ambassadors for all the great health and care services the third sector delivers in North Cumbria
  • Skilled at describing and delivering the third sector’s core skills of innovation, flexibility, working at pace, reach into disadvantaged communities
  • Skilled at leading change, partnership and innovation
  • Able to work across all sectors and with local communities to plan, develop and deliver local integrated health and care services
