Kendal Resilience Group – Coordinator contract description

Hours:Approx. 10 per week. Working from home.
Reports to: Member of the Support group

Overview
The group supports isolated and/or vulnerable individuals within the community of Kendal an
surrounds. The coordinator’s role is to recruit, retain and train volunteers to enable the group to
respond to requests for help or an emergency situation. Kendal Resilience Group was formed to
work with the Kendal Community in circumstances prior to an emergency and ensure residents
have as much notice as possible to prepare for a situation that is likely to have a sudden and
adverse impact on their homes. A community emergency plan has been developed and can be
used during an emergency situation. The group is now working on a year round Neighborliness
agenda

Responsibilities and duties
● Provide administrative support for Kendal Resilience Group (KRG).
● Work closely with partners to link volunteers with people within the local community
● To recruit, train and support volunteers
● To collect, collate and record volunteer activity
● Keep the community emergency plan up to date
● Attend partnership meetings to promote the Kendal Resilience Group and build
relationships.

● Ability to work confidently with partner organisations
● Good motivating, listening, influencing and supporting skills
● Excellent verbal and written communication skills
● Ability to proactively promote Kendal Resilience Group via social media
● A high degree of self-motivation, initiative, drive and enthusiasm
● Flexible approach to work, including ability to organise and prioritise workload and meet
deadlines

Working Hours and conditions
• Working hours are flexible, including evenings and weekends. Some cover for out of
office hours when an emergency happens or quick responses are needed to community
requests are required.
• Self employment is preferred but please do apply if you would prefer to be employed and
we will consider this.
• The contract fee is £14 per hour. Employment will be approx: £12.00 per hour.
