Location:             Based at the Slynedales Centre with travel around the allocated geographical area

Salary:                  £15,759pa plus benefits

Hours:                  24 hours (flexible working hours in line with the job description, and will include some weekend and/or evening work)

Role summary

You will be working as part of our experienced Fundraising and Marketing Team to deliver CancerCare’s fundraising strategy and income targets across the area. You will be responsible for organising and delivering some of the events within CancerCare’s event calendar, across the geographical patch, but predominantly in the North Lancashire area. You will be responsible for raising awareness of CancerCare and the need for funding from our local community, and building excellent relationships to steward event participants, supporters, and community fundraisers in order to increase income and encourage loyalty to CancerCare.

Main Duties

  • Contribute to and deliver against annual budgets, targets and plans to ensure sustainable growth of net income
  • Proactively explore the local area, distribute collection tins, and develop and foster new and existing community supporters and fundraising groups
  • Inspire, motivate and drive supporters to reach their own fundraising targets
  • Proactively use Beacon (the CRM database) to develop and manage supporter relationships, ensuring that accurate, up to date financial and supporter records are maintained and compliant with GDPR
  • Support CancerCare’s event calendar, assisting with the organisation of events. This should be done in the most cost effective way using the administrative planning toolkit, ensuring all events are delivered to time and to budget.
  • Ensure all events adhere to legal requirements, overseeing the events risk and health assessments
  • Undertake public speaking events on behalf of CancerCare to raise awareness of the charity and the services it provides
  • Use event booking system Trybooking as part of the event setup process, communicating with and monitoring event participants
  • Actively seek partnership opportunities and build relationships with companies and local supporter groups
  • Promote all other strands of income at every opportunity to help support the wider fundraising team
  • Thank and respond to supporters and donors in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Keep up to date with Fundraising Regulations, legislation and best practice and to identity own training needs as part of continuous professional development
  • At every opportunity educate and encourage donors to support CancerCare by obtaining their written consent to enable us to claim gift aid where possible

 

Supporting duties

  • Support the Deputy Head of Fundraising and Head of Fundraising and Marketing on collective initiatives
  • Work with the Engagement/Development Officers to advocate for CancerCare locally and to be able to explain therapy services to external stakeholders
  • Work with the Volunteer Co-ordinator to help recruit, cultivate and engage a team of volunteers who can support fundraising events
  • Support the Marketing team by providing all promotional and PR information on time and in line with the marketing and branding guidelines

Organisational duties

  • Contribute to organisation effectiveness through positivity and pro-activity
  • Manage own workload and time, recording daily activity using appropriate software eg Microsoft Outlook
  • Have a flexible approach to work patterns in line with the needs of the role
  • Participate in staff training, team meetings and events as requested
  • Comply with CancerCare’s organisational policies
  • Act in accordance with CancerCare’s values and to promote the mission and vision of the charity at all times
  • Undertake any other duties as determined by the Executive Leadership Team
