  • North Cumbria (Carlisle/Eden);
  • West Cumbria (Allerdale/Copeland);
  • South Cumbria (Barrow/South Lakeland)

(2-year contract in the first instance)

Salary: £22,681 – 25,042 (sp 12 – 17) pro rata

Overview of job purpose

Cumbria CVS have been awarded almost £300k of Reaching Communities Funding (from the National Lottery Community Fund) to deliver ‘Community Connectors’ a placed-based project working in local communities across Cumbria with the aim of enhancing the engagement between the local communities, VCFSE organisations, the public sector, key stakeholders and funders.

New Area Engagement Workers will be working with local Volunteer Community Connectors and help create clear pathways for the voices of community and VCFSE organisations to be better heard, and to help shape and influence local plans, services and or projects that may affect their communities.

Key Duties:

  • Engaging with local community organisations, communities and partners to ensure awareness of the project and explore partnership opportunities and co-production activities.
  • Identify existing, or create new, pathways of engagement that provides communities through their local community groups with a pathway to have their voices heard
  • Working closely with wider Cumbria CVS team, especially the District Managers and Volunteer Manager, to provide volunteer Community Connectors with the training and support they need to be effective
  • Be flexible, creative and innovative so as to engage with a wide range of community organisations and communities, particularly those that are traditionally seen as ‘hard to reach’.
  • Work with the project team to support the monitoring and evaluation of the project and using formal and informal feedback to constructively shape and develop the project.

 

Experience, skills, qualities

  • Be experienced in community engagement and partnership working
  • Experience of building and maintaining partnerships and positive relationships from scratch. But also able to work effectively in existing partnership structures.
  • Experience in supporting and working with volunteers
