Then why not come along and volunteer at the Cumbria CVS Community Clean Up Day at Shaddongate Resource Centre?! Come and join the Cumbria CVS team as they look to clean up and maintain this fantastic building and outside area. All equipment will be provided.

First Steps to Grant Funding for Small Groups

This introductory session is aimed at groups and individuals who are new to writing grant applications and funding bids or have not applied for some time and would like a refresher.  As the funding pot gets smaller, groups need to be able to write more effective bids to help fund their projects.

The session will give an overview of the best practice in writing and submitting grant funding applications and will provide guidance on:

Fire Marshal Training

This session has been designed for any members of staff designated as fire warden for their workplace – or looking to become this.

Delegates will learn about causes and effects of fires, as well as how to prevent their spread and implement necessary emergency procedures. The course complies with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005  and covers:

Copeland Governance Academy: Setting up a group – what you need to know

The Copeland Governance Academy is about developing small groups and empowering individuals.  Increasingly small or new organisations are encouraged to take on greater responsibilities for supporting the delivery of local services.  Funded through Copeland Community Fund and Cumbria County Council, the Copeland Governance Academy can assist groups through the following FREE short sessions that will take place at the Whitehaven Foyer:

Every charity can build a strong board if it invests time and effort in volunteer recruitment and retention. This session will take a look at how Volunteer Managers can help to target and recruit new trustees and board members by better understanding the roles of trustees and what skills are needed, along with developing trustee role descriptions.
