The neuroscience of distress and trauma
Come and join us at this exciting event which is the first in a series looking at trauma informed care, adverse childhood experience, resilience and recovery.
The series will begin to create a portfolio of ideas and skills that can be added to a person’s natural expertise when working with clients who have had difficult early experiences or who have suffered traumatic events as an adult.
The workshops will also aim to celebrate and support local good practice, supported by speakers from outside the county.
This first event will look at :
- The neurology of distress and trauma
- How stress enters the body
- The physiology of breathing techniques to alleviate stress
- The ways to create positive memories
- Building resilience
- How to use a new rewind technique to move on from trauma
The key speaker is Dr Alastair Dobbin, a GP and Hypnotherapist, and he will be supported by local GPs Dr Venetia Young and Dr Julie Carter.
