Focus on Funding Forum – National Academy for Social Prescribing

Social Prescribing has now emerged as a powerful social movement. The National Academy for Social Prescribing (NASP) and the Thriving Communities programme is building resources, profile and evidence. The Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise sector is crucial to achieving this.

At this month’s forum Christine Blythe, the North West Regional Co-ordinating Lead for NASP, will talk about:

• NASP and their ambition: “wanting people to live the best life they can” and how they plan to do that.
• The different programmes of work aiming to achieve this ambition through the thriving communities network, the regional learning networks, the ideas hubs, ambassadors and the Global Alliance.
• How you and your organisation can contribute and be involved.

About the presenter

Along with her role at NASP Christine is the CEO of Burnley Pendle and Rossendale CVS.

Christine has been heavily involved in the social prescribing agenda (more formally) since 2014 when the Clinical Commissioning Group in East Lancashire began to fund part time workers (then called navigators) and crucially a small grants programme for the small volunteer led VCF groups in East Lancashire. The results have been outstanding and there is lots of evidence to show how the approach helps impact on peoples health and wellbeing.

When NASP was formed Christine was keen to be involved because of her belief in the value of the VCF sector in providing a variety of destinations so that every individual can find a pathway that suits them.
