Six main library buildings reopen in August
Cumbria County Council are pleased to confirm that the county’s six main library buildings in Carlisle, Penrith, Whitehaven, Workington, Kendal and Barrow will reopen to the public on Monday 10 August. To protect the health and safety of library staff and customers, libraries will have new Covid-secure measures in place and their opening times and offer will be slightly different. Summer holiday activity directories launched to help keep kids busy this summer!
To support parents and carers looking for childcare and activities to help keep young people occupied during the school summer holidays, Cumbria County Council and partners have launched an online directory for each district of Cumbria which lists local options for holiday camps, childcare providers and other support services and activities. The aim of the directories is to make it easier for parents and carers to find information about available services, whilst supporting childcare and activity providers to publicise their offers to parents and carers as they begin to restart activities. This year’s edition of the Charity Digital Skills Report created by the Skills Platform is now available. Key findings from the report include:

  • 51% of charities still don’t have a strategy for digital
  • Influenced by the pandemic, 66% are now delivering all work remotely
  • However, 27% have cancelled services because either their charity or their users don’t have the necessary skills or tech
  • 66% rate their board’s digital skills as low or having room for improvement
