Remember, remember CVS AGM in November!

You will all be pleased to hear that Laura has had her operation and is currently recuperating. She is looking forward to coming back to work and I’m sure you will all join us in wishing her a speedy recovery.

Well, it’s that time of year again – the AGM season!

The Cumbria CVS AGM will be on Thursday 8 November at Rheged. It would be great to see you all there, as we’ve got an exciting day of speakers and workshops to help you run a great third sector organisation.
The morning will include a presentation from Jane Ide, Chief Executive of NAVCA – National Association of Voluntary and Community Action – the national umbrella body for CVS organisations. We’ve been working closely with NAVCA over the last year as they’ve been involved in a project around the role local voluntary and community organisations can play in the response to and recovery from emergencies – an area of work that Cumbria clearly has a wide experience of. However, Jane’s input to our AGM will be broader, setting out the national context in which local voluntary and community groups are currently operating, and outlining the challenges and opportunities facing the sector.

There’ll also be a presentation from Mike Wild, Chief Executive of Macc (Manchester’s local voluntary and community sector support organisation) giving a regional perspective on the third sector. Lunch will provide an opportunity for networking, and the afternoon will be filled with workshop sessions allowing you to find out more about the right structure for your organisation, how to balance diversity within your board of trustees/committee and how to be in charge of the money. Intrigued? then come along and find our more.

I hope you all already have the date in your diary – a formal invitation and booking form will be sent out in the next few days. We’re keen to welcome people from a wide range of local third sector organisations and so please do join us. Your organisation does not need to be a member of Cumbria CVS for you to come along – although only member organisations will get a vote at the AGM – we will have membership forms available if you’d like to join!.
The event is also open to people from our partner organisations in the statutory sector and beyond, and it would be great to see you there too.

See you all in November

Kind regards
