Rebuilding Together

Rebuilding Together and Communities in Control have largely been run as a single project, under the name of “Rebuilding Together”. It has three main strands – one delivered by each of the three main partner organisations: Cumbria CVS, Action with Communities in Cumbria (ACT) and Cumbria Action for Sustainability (CAfS).

The projects were developed in the wake of the severe flooding caused by Storm Desmond in December 2015 and delivery started in October 2016. The core aims of the projects remain unchanged: to build the resilience of individuals, communities and (third sector) organisations across Cumbria. Many of the activities continue unchanged, but many have also been adapted to respond to a changing operating environment and emerging opportunities.

The report on Year 2 activity gives an update on the activities of each of the three main partner organisations (with information from the other partners being included within these), and then includes a section on our strategic partnership activity and a number of case studies that demonstrate how we have worked together in partnership during emergencies that have occurred during the project year.
