Making a difference

On Tuesday 19 March NAVCA hosted their inaugural NAVCA Awards, marking the brilliant achievements of member organisations.  Designed to celebrate local infrastructure – the unsung heroes of our sector – nine awards were handed out during the evening. From an impressive shortlist of 28 entries, six voluntary and community sector support organisations from across England were crowned winners on the night.

Congratulations to all NAVCA Awards winners and thank you to everyone who entered and helped to make our very first NAVCA Awards a success.

Cumbria CVS entered the Making a Difference category – Jonathan Elliott (a volunteer) came with me to the awards ceremony held in London – our entry was for work around Rebuilding Together (our National Lottery funded project). We submitted a 2 minute video trailer When the Waters Rise: https://youtu.be/dyWAXS13FVI  – a film that gives a voice to some of the many people who were personally affected by flooding … but unfortunately lost out to Sefton CVS.
