Trustees wanted!

Fancy taking up a new challenge?

At Cumbria CVS we are very fortunate; we attract exceptionally good Trustees who stay with us for significant periods of time. This has been very important in building the knowledge, expertise and skills of our Trustees as a group; it’s this shared skills and knowledge base that helps to ensure that our organisation is consistently well managed and directed towards a strong, sustainable future.

New funding for local groups

New funding available for local groups in Cumbria and Northumberland

Local groups and organisations with great ideas to make their communities an even better place to live are now invited to apply for funding to turn their ideas into reality.

People’s Health Trust has just launched Active Communities in Cumbria and Northumberland – a funding programme for local people wanting to create fairer places to grow, live, work and age.

You can still feed into Designing Cumbria’s Health and Social Wellbeing System

Get Together : Work Together

Veterans Conference for Cumbria
Thursday 21 May 2015
Rheged Centre, Penrith
9.30am – 3.30pm
£20 per person

Veterans who need help deserve joined-up support. The Armed Forces Covenant places a responsibility on all providers of support to ensure that the veteran and serving community receive no disadvantage as a result of their service. Last year a reinvigorated Armed Forces Community Covenant Forum for Cumbria identified the need for the many agencies involved in providing support to understand and work with each other better.
Get Together : Work Together is a conference that will provide an excellent opportunity for organisations involved in providing this support in Cumbria to get together to forge closer practical links, encourage joint working, share best practice and build effective partnerships. Focused around the core themes of ‘Housing’, ‘Health and Wellbeing’ and ‘Into Employment’, the conference will include a number of leading speakers, and with opportunities to network and discuss the issues throughout the day, Get Together : Work Together is a must for those wanting to provide the best support to our Veterans.

Too Many Charity Accounts are Unacceptable

The Charity Commission surveyed 215 charitable accounts, comparing them over two financial years, and found that less than two thirds of charities produced acceptable accounts during that period. Only one third of charity reports fully meet legal requirements.

This comes as no surprise to Right Balance Accounting as we have often found it necessary to re-work our clients’ accounts to show, for example, the fund balances of both unrestricted and restricted funds, or to derive correct comparative figures. In some cases we have re-drafted accounts, prepared by others, to put them into a format that fully complies with the Charities SORP.
