New CEO appointed to NCIC

David Allen has been appointed as a non executive director to North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust (NCIC).

David who is also the newly appointed chief executive of Cumbria Council of Voluntary Service (CVS) was appointed by the Governors Council of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust last week following recommendation by its Nominations Committee.

Prior to his appointment with Cumbria CVS, David was formerly the chief executive of the Faculty of Public Health (of the 3 Royal Colleges of Physicians), and held a number of senior positions at the Royal National Institute for the Blind.  David is Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute and of the Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.

Jane Smith, lead governor said, “David was a very strong candidate, with third sector experience; delivering strategies across multinational and European levels; innovation and proven prevention agenda.  He clearly demonstrated his skills and Trust values.”

Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and North Cumbria University Hospitals Trust (NCUH) are set to merge on 1st October 2019 subject to approval from the Governors Council and Board of Directors next week.

Chair of both organisations Robin Talbot said, “The Governors Council unanimously voted to approve David’s appointment and I look forward to working with him in North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.”

David said “I am thrilled to be invited to take on this position at what is such an exciting and challenging time for the NHS.  It is clear to me that both the voluntary sector and health organisations in Cumbria want a stronger, better relationship and I am looking forward to helping however I can”.

David’s term of office will run from 1 October 2019 to 30 September 2022.
