2021 March 03
Inspiring Barrow has been working hard to support the children of Barrow and Furness.
The online History Detective programme, coordinated by Kerry Stockdale and delivered by local author and historian Gill Jepson, has started and is proving to be huge success. The children (with guidance) get to independently research the growth of Barrow from the early days of the industrial revolution and the expansion of the town.
21 March 2021 is census day.
Between 5th and 12th March, your census pack will arrive by post and will contain;
- A unique code to enable access to the census online portal.
- An instruction leaflet on how to complete the online return.
On my phone each day I have an app that reminds me of photos taken on the same date in previous years. A recent stream from last year featured me, my Mum, and my then four-year old son grinning in front of a Tyrannosaurus Rex at the Manchester Museum. A couple of days later my Mum headed home to Sussex. We haven’t seen each other in person since.
While hugs, holidays, haircuts* and more have been put on hold, so much has changed beyond recognition as we’ve adapted to life during a pandemic. Like so many, conversations with my family and friends are via Zoom and I write this while on leave to look after my young children while my wife works, batting them away from the laptop every so often!
